AIA Urges Congress to Invest in FAA, Equip for Next-Generation Technology

Arlington, Va. (April 30, 2024) - The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today released its priorities for the fiscal year 2025 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies appropriations bill, which authorizes funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

"Our industry is constantly on the cutting edge of technology. We develop, create, and deliver safe and reliable aviation. From advanced air mobility and next-generation air travel to space systems that will push us into a new era of space flight, the aerospace and defense industry will propel the United States into the future," Vice President of Civil AviationDi Reimold said. "AIA and our members have continually advocated for robust investments in the FAA to develop the proper policy framework and build the workforce that will continually enhance safety and efficiency and unleash innovative technologies to ensure U.S. leadership in this critical industry remains unchallenged.

"We thank Chaiman Schatz, Chairman Womack, Ranking Member Hyde-Smith, and Ranking Member Quigley for their steadfast support of our industry as they develop this year's bill."

In a letter to Senate and House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee leadership, AIA outlined its funding priorities for the year, including

  • The overall Operations Program;
  • The Work Tracking System and Certification Project Notification System;
  • The Advanced Air Mobility Infrastructure Pilot Program;
  • Aviation and Aerospace Talent Development Program;
  • The Office of Commercial Space Transportation;
  • The FAA's Environment and Energy Program, ASCENT;
  • The FAA's Environmental Research - Aircraft Technologies and Fuels program, CLEEN;
  • The Workforce Grants Programs; and
  • The Aircraft Radio Altimeter Development, Testing, and Certification fund.
