Three all-day drop-in sessions where residents can speak to the Local Plans Team at South Staffordshire Council will be taking place this November as part of an eight-week consultation into a review of the Local Plan for the district.
The sessions will take place from 10am to 7pm on Wednesday 7 November 2018 at Wombourne Civic Centre, Wednesday 14 November 2018 at the Council Offices in Codsall, and on Thursday 15 November 2018 at Haling Dene Centre in Penkridge.
A Local Plan is a set of policies used to inform decisions on planning applications and appeals. Every local planning authority has a duty to review its Local Plan at regular intervals, generally every five years.
'In terms of our Local Plan review, we are at the first consultation stage, known as Issues and Options. This is not looking at specific sites, but more about the bigger picture such as the levels of and locations for new development - how many homes should be built, what type of housing do we need and where should the new homes go,' explains Councillor Brian Edwards MBE, Leader of South Staffordshire Council.
'Through the review, we will consider all sites that are suggested to us, and consult again once we have identified preferred sites. This is likely to be in 2019 and assessments will be comprehensive and include consideration of issues such as landscape character, impact on the Green Belt and environmental impact.'
The consultation on the Issues and Options for the Local Plan Review started on Monday 8 October 2018 and will close on Friday 30 November 2018.
