PORTLAND (WGME) -- Families facing homelessness will soon have a safe place to spend their day. Two organizations are teaming up to make it happen. The YMCA of Southern Maine and the Greater Portland Family Promise are creating the Family Promise Day Center, which will welcome four families through its doors. Those families can do things like shower and do laundry. And the children can take advantage of the Y's programs, including swim lessons and summer camp. The day center is scheduled to open up on July 9.
