The long yellow ladder truck also will roll through East Tampa on MLK Jr. Day
A bright-yellow Hillsborough County fire truck will stretch out among participants in the Children's Gasparilla Parade along Bayshore Boulevard on Saturday.
The truck, which has an extendable 100-foot-long ladder, is assigned to Station 28 in Sun City Center. It's one of about 100 units in the procession that includes pirate-themed floats, marching bands, dancers, and school, community, and neighborhood groups.
The Jan. 18 Children's Gasparilla Parade is a tamer version of the Gasparilla Parade of Pirates that takes place the following Saturday, Jan. 25. It follows part of the same route as the latter, more boisterous procession.
Various Children's Gasparilla events and activities take place from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. at Bayshore and Bay to Bay boulevards and ends at 6 p.m. at Bayshore and Edison Avenue.
The Station 28 ladder truck also will be in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade in East Tampa on Monday, Jan. 20.
