Although spectators weren't able to flock to the Country Club of Jackson for the Sanderson Farms Championship in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, that did not stop the event from accomplishing its important mission of supporting Friends of Children's Hospital. A two-time winner of the PGA TOUR's 'Best Charity Integration' award, even a pandemic could not restrict tournament organizers from incorporating Children's of Mississippi into every facet of the event.

Using the hashtag #AllInForChildrens, the tournament sold face masks with the logos of the Sanderson Farms Championship and Children's of Mississippi to offset the funds lost from ticket sales for the annual PGA TOUR event. 'Most importantly, we want to raise the dollars donated to Children's of Mississippi that the 175,000 children treated in the children's hospital and clinics annually depend on each year,' said Joe F. Sanderson Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Sanderson Farms.

Much like the success of the 'All In For Children's' campaign, the tournament was remarkably successful considering pandemic restrictions including hosting two pro-am tournaments and a full field of 144 players. The field also included several former Sanderson Farms Championship winners and defending 2019 champion, Sebastián Muñoz.

In the end, it was Sergio Garcia who putted his way to his 11th PGA TOUR win, marking his 31st win worldwide, at the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship. This win marked Garcia's first TOUR win since the 2017 Masters.

The 40-year-old birdied the final hole to claim a one-shot victory over Peter Malnati, who himself is a former Sanderson Farms Championship winner, claiming the title back in 2015. Finishing at 19-under 269, Garcia claimed a $1.188 million prize and 500 FedExCup points.

'It's obviously the perfect ending for an amazing week,' said Garcia. 'I watched this tournament last year when my good friend, Sebastián Muñoz, won and I thought, 'that looks like a really nice course!' This year [2020], because of everything that happened, my schedule allowed me to play a few tournaments in the fall, so it was great to be here, to play the way I played, and to believe in myself the way I did.'

With the success of the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship amidst unprecedented challenges, tournament organizers look forward to welcoming spectators at the 2021 tournament scheduled to be played September 27-October 3 at the Country Club of Jackson.

'Last year, we really missed the energy our spectators create, and I'm certain this year's field will once again be one of the best we've hosted. All efforts are focused on giving fans an incredible and meaningful experience in a safe environment. As a result, all tickets will once again be digital this year and all on-site transactions will be contactless.
