Minister Coveney to meet Vice-President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, H.E. Marta Lucía Ramírez

Press release

04 April 2022

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney T.D., will meet the Vice-President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, H.E. Marta Lucía Ramírez on Tuesday 5 April. The Vice-President is currently visiting Ireland to attend the Global Diaspora Summit and undertake an official programme of engagements.

"I am delighted to be able to welcome Vice-President and Foreign Minister Ramírez to Iveagh House and I very much look forward to holding a wide-ranging discussion on topics which are of great importance to both Ireland and Colombia.

"Colombia is a key partner for Ireland in the Latin America and Caribbean region and is a country with which we share excellent bilateral relations. This relationship has been strengthened in recent years with the opening of our respective Embassies in 2018 and 2019, and most recently by the launch of Ireland's-first ever Strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean"

In addition to bilateral relations and the recently launched strategy, Minister Coveney and Vice-President Ramírez will discuss global issues including the situation in Ukraine and Venezuela; our longstanding cooperation and lesson sharing on peacebuilding; as well as the significant trade and investment opportunities that exist between our two countries.

The Vice-President's visit comes only a short time after the Tánaiste's successful visit to Colombia as part of this year's Saint Patrick's Day programme.
