Baseball's 2020 Season Set To Get Underway

Reading, Pa. (Feb. 13, 2020)- Alvernia University Baseball announced its schedule for the upcoming 2020 season on Thursday.

The Golden Wolves get their season underway on Sunday, February 16th against Drew University at 10:00 AM. The game will be played at Kean University's Jim Hynes Stadium.

The following day, Alvernia will head back to #5 Kean to take on the Cougars.

On February 22nd, Alvernia heads down to Ashland, Virginia for a doubleheader against Randolph-Macon.

The Golden Wolves then head to Fort Myers, Florida for spring break from March 1st - 6th. During that week, Alvernia will take on Bluffton, Otterbein, Finlandia, Thiel, and Augustana.

Alvernia then returns to Reading for its home opener against The College of New Jersey on Tuesday, March 10th.

Three days later, Alvernia opens up its MAC Commonwealth schedule with a home game against Lebanon Valley. The next day, they complete the series with a doubleheader at Lebanon Valley.

On Tuesday, March 17th, the Golden Wolves will face Kean University for the second time of the season, this time in Angelica Park.

On March 20th and 21st, Alvernia will take on Hood College, with game one of the three game series taking place in Reading.

After hosting Gwynedd Mercy in a non-conference game on March 25th, Alvernia takes on Messiah College. The Saturday doubleheader will take place at Alvernia, with game one being played in Grantham, Pa.

Alvernia opens April with a non-conference road game at Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 1st, and then heads back to Reading for the opening game of the Arcadia series on Friday, April 3rd.

The Golden Wolves and Stevenson Mustangs will face off on Easter weekend, with game one of the series at Stevenson on Thursday, April 9th. The Mustangs will then travel up to Reading on Saturday, April 11th for the doubleheader to close out the series.

Alvernia plays back-to-back non-conference games on April 13th and 14th, with Alvernia heading to Penn State Harrisburg on Monday and hosting Moravian on Tuesday.

Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th will be a rematch of the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Championship, with Alvernia and Widener facing off. Game one of the series will take place at Widener on Friday, with the doubleheader taking place at Alvernia's Angelica Park.

Alvernia's final week of regular season games begins on Wednesday, April 22nd with a home game against Elizabethtown. The regular season ends with the MAC Commonwealth series against Albright College. Alvernia will host the Lions for the Saturday doubleheader.

The defending MAC Commonwealth Champion Golden Wolves were picked as the favorite in the 2020 MAC Commonwealth Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Golden Wolves finished 2019 with a 28-16-2 record overall, and 15-6 record in MAC Commonwealth play.

Alvernia is under the direction of Head Coach , who enters his 34th year of coaching for Alvernia.
