BUFFALO, N.Y.-Nationally No. 1/2-ranked Plattsburgh netted a power-play goal and a shorthanded marker in a 3-0 win over host Buffalo State in an NEWHL game today to extend its winning streak to six while snapping the Bengals unbeaten stretch at five.

Buffalo State and Plattsburgh skated to a scoreless first period with the Bengals hanging tight with the top-ranked Cardinals for much of the opening 20 minutes. Plattsburgh had a 10-5 advantage in shots, but six of those attempts came on a pair of power-play opportunities.
The Cardinals took control in the second frame with a pair of special teams strikes and dominated shots by a 16-2 margin.
Plattsburgh scored again early in the third period, but Buffalo State leveled play again and produced several quality scoring chances, including ringing a pair of shots off the goal post, but it could not break through.
(El Monte, CA/Arroyo) finished with 32 saves as Plattsburgh ended the contest with a 35-15 advantage in shots on goal.
Courtney Moriarty scored twice, and Ashley Songin also scored for Plattsburgh.
Kassi Abbott made 15 saves for the shutout.
Buffalo State will host the Cardinals again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
