ASTANA, November 8, 2018 - A joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), the Council of Defense Ministers (CDM) and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils (CSSC) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was held under Kazakhstan's chairmanship. The meeting involved the participation of representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
The agenda included the strengthening of international and regional security, military cooperation, and tackling contemporary challenges and threats.
The ministers and heads of the CSTO member states' agencies agreed on a number of documents, which were handed over to the heads of state and government for consideration during the CSTO Collective Security Council session, held on the same day. It is anticipated that decisions will be made on the status of CSTO observers and partners and on the launch of the organization's Crisis Response Center, among other significant practical issues. The final document of the summit will be the Declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The next joint meeting of the CFM, the CDM and the CSTO's CSSC will be held in 2019 in the Kyrgyz Republic, which will be taking over the chairmanship of this forum from Kazakhstan.
