Baruch College Earns #2 Ranking in Quant Net's Best Financial Engineering Programs

Fourth Consecutive Year in Top Two for the Baruch MFE Program

For the fourth consecutive year, Baruch College's Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) program has placed among the top two programs in the QuantNet ranking of the 'Best Financial Engineering Programs in the United States.' The QuantNet ranking is considered the most comprehensive ranking to date of master's programs in Financial Engineering and Mathematical Finance.

This year, Baruch's MFE program garnered the #2 spot in the 2019 QuantNet ranking after Princeton University, surpassing rankings for such prestigious institutions as University of California - Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ranking Reflects Student Success

'Baruch's MFE program has been ranked either in first or second place for an impressive four years running by QuantNet,' said Dan Stefanica, PhD, co-director of the program. 'This track record is a direct reflection of the success of our students on the job market, their consistent wins at the country's most rigorous trading competitions, and their superb academic performance in a continually updated and cutting edge curriculum.'

Stefanica added that these achievements also arise from the ongoing support of highly successful alumni and dedicated faculty. 'This outstanding success shines bright lights on the entire Baruch College community,' said Stefanica.

In 2018 and 2017, Baruch earned the #1 spot in QuantNet's annual ranking, while being #2 in 2019 and 2016.

Accolades from Academics to the Trading Floor

In its description of Baruch College's MFE program, QuantNet pointed to the high quality and relevancy of the academic instruction, along with the sophistication of the Wasserman Trading Floor in the Subotnick Financial Services Center.

'Over the years, the program has transformed from theoretical, mathematical focused into a practical, computational focused with many new cutting-edge courses being offered as a result of suggestions from its alumni, teaching adjuncts and industry connections. The program is known today for its emphasis on providing its graduates a very strong practical and technical training.'

QuantNet added, the Wasserman Trading Floor is 'is one of the largest and most complete educational facilities of its kind. The Center introduces Baruch College students to economic, financial, journalism, and technology principles using professional market data systems and analytic software.'
