Metro Bankers Ace It For The Homeless

7th December 2021

The UK's community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze - essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank's marketing department decided to use their Day to Amaze by volunteering for Ace of Clubs where they helped prepare over a hundred meals for homeless people.

Ace of Clubs provides shelter, food, warmth and laundry to those in need. Last year, the charity provided meals to over 34,000 people, helped over 100 people off the streets and into accommodation and also helped 36 people recover from addiction.

Metro Bank colleagues Danielle Lee, Carrie Coles, Kurnia Payne, Anthony Barter, Violet Rahmani-Afoosi and Alex Rapallo volunteered by helping to cook meals, organising food stock and transporting crates in the warehouse.

"Every week Ace of Clubs supports over 120 people and it was really rewarding to help out and be part of such a strong community initiative," says Danielle Lee, head of growth and digital marketing at Metro Bank. "We enjoyed working with the charity and seeing the difference that a simple home cooked meal made to so many people."
