The installed capacity of wind power in the country as on 31.10.2021 is 39.99 GW. The tariff of wind power generation discovered in latest bid of SECI is Rs 2.69-2.70 per unit.
The wind resource assessment conducted by the National Institute of Wind Energy indicates an estimated wind power potential of 695.5 GW at 120 meter above ground level in the country. The state wise wind power potential is given at Annex.
The wind power generation capacity is higher than the level of the nuclear energy capacity. The installed wind power and nuclear power generation capacity of the country are 39.99 GW and 6.78 GW respectively, as on 31.10.2021.
The following steps have been taken specifically for promoting wind energy:
