Cedar City, Utah - Cedar Breaks had a successful winter season. With both wintertime access and a new contact station at North View Overlook. Cedar Breaks staff provided guided snowshoe hikes and astronomy programs throughout the winter months. The last snowshoe hike for the season occurred on April 13th.

Winter astronomy programs will continue Saturdays at 8pm by reservation only until May 18th. Reservations can be found online at Eventbrite.com.

On Monday, April 22, the seasonal snowmobile trail through the park will be closed. The closure is necessary to begin preparing for the 2024 summer season, including plowing the park road. Visitors are welcome to continue snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the park while sufficient snow remains and are advised to watch for equipment operating on the road.

Summer services will resume Friday May 24th with the campground opening June 14th. Astronomy programs will begin May 24th at North View. These programs will be conducted every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting with solar viewing at 6:30pm, an astronomy talk at 8pm, and telescope viewing from 8:30pm until 10:30pm. No reservations necessary. The Point Supreme Overlook will remain closed until midsummer as construction resumes on the new visitor contact station. Visitors can still access the South Rim Trail from the Pt. Supreme parking lot.

Festival dates for 2024 are as follows; Wildlife Extravaganza June 7th-9th, Geology Jamboree June 21st-23rd, Wildflower Festival July 6th-14th, Heritage Festival August 9th-11th, Southwest Astronomy Festival September 20th -22nd . The monument is above 10,000' so visitors may encounter all types of weather and are encouraged to dress in layers and wear good footwear.
