The next Fort Morgan Library and Museum Brown Bag lunch program will feature a visual presentation on the life of Alexander Phimister Proctor, who was revered as America's premier animal sculptor.
'Who Was the Sculptor in Buckskin?' will be presented by Dave Lively at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
In addition to his artistic credentials, Proctor was also known as an unfailing warm and enthusiastic human being. After spending much of his youth hunting and sketching in the Colorado mountain wilderness of the 1870s, Proctor's talents took him throughout the United States and on to Paris and Rome.
One of his sons summed up his life with his father by saying, 'I would rather belong to this family than to have been born a prince.'
The monthly Brown Bag Lunch is sponsored by the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation. The program is free and the general public is invited to attend and bring a sack lunch to enjoy.
