Bowie State University’s Graduate Programs Among Best in the Nation

(BOWIE, Md.) - Bowie State University's (BSU) education, computer science, nursing and public administration graduate programs were again ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for their level of excellence.

Designed for prospective students looking to further their education beyond college, the Best Graduate Schoolsrankings evaluate programs in a variety of disciplines, including business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing.

"We are grateful for the rankings of four BSU programs, but we're still on the move," said Dr. Janet Guyden, interim dean of Bowie State University's Graduate School. "We're not resting on our laurels. The world is changing rapidly, and our graduate students must be prepared to meet the challenges of a global economy that is increasingly driven by AI and other emerging technologies."

Educators have numerous options to pursue an advanced degree in the Bowie State College of Education. Masters' degrees are offered in special education, school psychology, school counseling, reading education, mental health counseling, elementary & secondary school administration, counseling psychology, culturally responsive teacher leadership and teaching (MAT). Individuals can also pursue doctorate degrees in educational leadership and counseling & supervision.

Bowie State's graduate computer science program enables students to design new algorithms, analyze computer language theory, research and develop new computer systems and software and delve into virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, data science and cybersecurity. Individuals can earn their master's degree and a doctor of science degree in computer science.

The master's in public administration provides administrators, analysts, general managers, and others in the public sector and public-oriented organizations theory and application of new technologies. BSU's graduate program also develops and strengthens students' research and analytical skills enabling them to perform problem solving activities cutting across social, economic and the political landscape that comprises public administration.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program can prepare students to transition into either an advanced practice nursing role or a nurse educator role. Bowie State's program provides an evidence-based and student-centered educational experience. The critical need for nurse educators (NE) to teach our future generation of nurses continues to expand. If students have a passion for leading, educating and developing new nurses, the nurse educator program at Bowie State will prepare them to excel.
