Main Line Health Partners with Jefferson Health to Provide Critical Care Transport and Helicopter EMS in the Region

Riddle Hospital, part of Main Line Health, is now the newest location for JeffSTAT's medical transportation service. In partnership with Main Line Health and Jefferson Health, the JeffSTAT aircraft, formerly based in Coatesville, PA, has re-established its home at Riddle Hospital which will also serve as the 24/7 base for the medical crew and pilot. This partnership will improve access for patients to critical care transport services in the air and on the ground as part of Riddle Hospital's ongoing community engagement and outreach to enhance the patient experience and care accessibility.

JeffSTAT is a division of Jefferson Health and a CAMTS accredited critical care transport program that operates four helicopters and three ambulances. JeffSTAT provides critical care transport from an accident scene or local hospital to specialty hospitals in the region. As a leader in critical care transport, JeffSTAT is dedicated to high-quality patient care and safe transport. Its new home at Riddle Hospital will help to augment Main Line Health's already existing ground-based EMS team.

The first 48 hours can make the difference between life and death for patients who have suffered a neurological emergency, such as an acute stroke. Receiving the most advanced and comprehensive care available quickly can halt the cascade of complications and dramatically improve outcomes. With the JeffSTAT partnership, Main Line Health is able to expand its care options to patients and distinguish itself as the provider of choice in the area.

"We are so pleased to be able to offer this service to our patients at Riddle Hospital and across our region. This adds an additional level of critical care as part of our commitment to enhancing the patient experience within the community. Our partnership with Jefferson Health has positioned us to advance our mission of compassionate care and extends our services far beyond our campus," says Shelly Buck, President of Riddle Hospital.

Patient Impact:
The presence of a helicopter transport at Riddle Hospital improves patient's chances for survival when time is of the essence. From an economic standpoint, patients often have concerns regarding cost of air transports. The average out of pocket cost for patients is $275.

Community Impact:
Middletown Township, where Riddle Hospital is located, has supported this initiative and continues to champion the ongoing modernization project currently underway at Riddle Hospital. The JeffSTAT aircraft is currently the only medical helicopter resource available across the Delaware county region. Should anyone in the area require medical flight, patients are transported quickly with a greater chance of early interventions and survival.

How Transfers Will Be Made:
Flight transfers will be made directly to the dispatcher from the Main Line Health Transfer Center and local 911 centers.
