Tallahassee Police Arrest Two Suspects in Fatal Keith Street Shooting

January 28, 2022

Today, Jan. 28, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on Jan. 27 near the intersection of Keith Street and Liberty Street just before 9 p.m.

Following a swift investigation by TPD's Violent Crimes Unit, it was determined the shooting resulted from an illegal drug sale between the victim and the two arrestees, Javontea Williams and Nathan Porter. During the exchange, the victim, a male juvenile, and Williams attempted to rob Porter with a firearm. Porter, who was also in possession of a firearm, immediately shot at the victim and subsequently fled the scene. Officers arrived on scene moments later and located the victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Due to the officer's quick response, both Williams and Porter were quickly located and taken to TPD for interviews. Through evidence found on scene, which was consistent with suspect statements, detectives were able to charge the suspects with felony murder.

This swift arrest is a testament to TPD's tireless efforts and dedication to bringing justice to the victim in this case. If you see something, say something. Report criminal activity by calling TPD at 850-891-4200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
