Ann Arbor Trail – Sanford Drive to Merriman Road Pavement Rehabilitation

Project Description

The City of Westland is undertaking a pavement rehabilitation and repair project along Ann Arbor Trail from Sanford Drive to Merriman Road. The work consists of milling the asphalt pavement surface, repairing deteriorated joints in the concrete base and resurfacing the road with asphalt wearing course. In addition, ADA ramps, signing, restoration and pavement markings will be a part of this project. This project is primarily funded with an MDOT federal grant.

Access - UPDATE 4/24/2024

During construction, one-way traffic will be maintained at all time in the open travel lane.

Stage 1 - Eastbound lane closure. One-way westbound traffic. 4/29 to 6/17, weather permitting.

Stage 2 - Westbound lane closure. One-way eastbound traffic. 6/17 to 9/6, weather permitting.

Expect intermittent delays and potential stoppage of traffic during certain construction activities with flaggers. A minimum of one driveway will be open to those properties with multiple driveway entrances.

Tentative Key Construction Dates

This work is weather dependent. Tentative project construction schedule: April 30, 2024 - September 6, 2024.
