Teammates Stephanie Meade, Sophana Tann, Laura Ojeda, & Rich Hildebrand ran a total of 121 miles for the win!

Last month, New Resource Bank employees ran 500 miles to protect the Amazon! Over 30 employees signed up for a running challenge with a cause with one of our innovative new clients, Atlas Run. Atlas is the running app that gives back, with every mile raising money for charity. Their mission is to develop a community where engaged runners, non-profits and corporations join forces to create positive awareness around social & environmental issues and to accelerate impactful change.

We worked together with our nonprofit client The Pachamama Alliance to raise funds directly to protect the Sacred Headwaters of the Amazon. This special region encompasses highly biodiverse rainforests and wetlands and is home to a mosaic of recognized indigenous territories and protected areas. The funds we raised were used to strengthen the capacity of indigenous organizations to protect their ancestral territories from further fossil fuel extraction.

Our staff loved the running challenge which both encouraged them to get active and also encouraged them to work as a team toward a shared purpose. The winning team, pictured below, ran a total of 121 miles over two weeks and was rewarded with a half day off. Winner Laura Ojeda said, 'Atlas gave me the right motivation to get up and go because every step I took helped make a difference!' On top of that, the Atlas app also connected us to the Amazon through jungle banner selfies, inspiring quotes, and connecting to the goal to raise funds for the Sacred Headquarters meeting. Magali Mathieu of Atlas Run applauded us for hitting our goal in record time. 'We've never seen an Atlas challenge meet its goal so fast! New Resource employees were so engaged with the app from day one, which says a lot about them as a company and how much their employees care about being a part of an impactful change!'

We ended the challenge with a closing ceremony with friends from The Pachamama Alliance and Atlas Run for a blessing, award ceremony and celebration! We are grateful to these two inspiring organizations for creating our fun running challenge for a meaningful cause! We hope to run again in the near future!
