Alexei Overchuk’s meeting with OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo

Head of the Russian delegation and Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk met with OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo on the sidelines of the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The officials discussed a broad range of issues related to the climate agenda and energy transition. They emphasised the important role of Russia‒OPEC+ cooperation in stabilising the global oil market over the past five years and the large potential for expanding their ties.

Alexei Overchuk and Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo exchanged views on the importance of maintaining stable supply in the energy market and providing fuel to customers at affordable prices. They also noted the great potential of high-tech cooperation between Russia and OPEC+ countries.
