Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) recently hosted the 32nd annual SWOSU Research and Scholarly Activity Fair, with over 100 student and faculty participants. The event took place on April 18 at the Wellness Center.

This year's fair featured 61 poster presentations and 10 oral presentations encompassing research from various disciplines including Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Physics, Engineering Technology, Kinesiology, Language & Literature, Mathematics, Music, Parks and Recreation Management, Pharmacy, Psychology, and Social Sciences.

The fair serves as a platform for students to present their research and scholarly activities in either poster or presentation formats. These opportunities are vital to undergraduate education, as they encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity in problem-solving. Undergraduate research is an opportunity for personal and professional development, allowing students to learn about their chosen field of study. Research experiences also often lead to mentorship opportunities with faculty members, enabling students to create connections and receive guidance as they navigate through their academic journey.

The fair was sponsored by the University Research and Scholarly Activity Committee and the SWOSU Office of Sponsored Programs. Committee members include the following: Dr. Jon Henrikson (Chair), Dr. Jieun Chang, Dr. Jeremy Evert, Dr. Wael Eldahshan, Mr. Frederic Murray, Dr. Zach Jones, Dr. Veronica AguiƱaga, Dr. Vijay Somalinga, Mr. CJ Smith (Interim Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs), and Ms. Jamie Wilks. President Diana Lovell and Provost Joel Kendall have consistently demonstrated their support for university research across all levels.

With many opportunities for student research available at SWOSU, the university is committed to cultivating an environment that supports students in their academic pursuits. Students are encouraged to participate in hands-on learning experiences that contribute to their personal and academic growth.
