Maine Catholics Invited to Join Fr. Greenleaf and Prince of Peace Parish in Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary

Maine Catholics are invited to join Fr. Daniel Greenleaf and Prince of Peace parishioners in a 33-day preparation for the consecration to Mary on the Feast of the Assumption (August 15).

The parish will be providing exercises of preparation for total consecration starting on Wednesday, July 13. To participate, simply sign up to receive a daily Flocknote from Fr. Greenleaf with an exercise for that day at www.princeofpeace.me/total-consecration. Optional weekly gatherings will also be livestreamed on that page for anyone to join, including an introduction to the process of consecration and prayer on Wednesday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m.

The preparation is outlined by St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. His book, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, has become a classic explanation of Marian devotion. Louis's life is inseparable from his efforts to promote genuine devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus and mother of the Church. Totus tuus ("completely yours") was Louis's personal motto.

St. Louis-Marie breaks these days into sections of days; each section has its own prayers and brief readings. The preparation focuses on offering up our prayers and devotions for the purpose of coming to understand ourselves and our sins, asking the Holy Spirit to help us understand the Blessed Virgin, and seeking to understand better Christ through meditation and the Litany of the Holy Spirit, the Ave Maris Stella, and the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus, Montfort's prayer to Jesus, and the prayer, "O Jesus Living in Mary."
