The Tulare City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2021-57 on December 7, 2021, to commit available CARES Act Community Development Block Grant funds to a rent, mortgage, and utility assistance program. This program provides aid to Tulare households who experienced a financial hardship related to the COVID-19 pandemic at any time since March of 2020. This program helps people who have housing right now, but who are currently behind or at-risk of becoming behind with rent, mortgage, and/or utility costs.

To qualify, Tulare households must provide proof of a financial hardship related to the pandemic, live within the City limits, and have a moderate income. Interested households are encouraged to contact the United Way of Tulare County by phone at 559-685-1766, by email at [email protected], or visit their website at https://www.unitedwaytc.org/direct-servicesto review a program flyer and download an application. Funds for this program are limited and assistance is given on a first-come first-serve basis. Households are encouraged to complete an application as soon as possible to verify their eligibility.

In-person assistance with an application is available at the United Way of Tulare County's office located at 1601 E Prosperity Ave in Tulare, CA, or, the Community and Economic Development Department located at 411 East Kern Ave in Tulare, CA, 93274.
