The World Soundtrack Academy has once again celebrated the hottest composers in the world, with several BMI composers taking center stage in the virtual awards ceremony. Hildur Guðnadóttir, who took the trophy last year for TV Composer of the Year with her score for HBO's miniseries Chernobyl, has this year shown her impressive talent as Film Composer of the Year for her Oscar-winning score for Joker. Conversely, BMI composer Nicholas Britell who was last year's Film Composer of the Year for his scores to Vice and If Beale Street Could Talk, has this year captured TV Composer of the Year for his original music to the second season of the HBO series Succession. In addition, BMI songwriter Joshuah Brian Campbell was honored with the WSA's award for Best Original Song for 'Stand Up,' which he wrote with Cynthia Erivo for Harriet, while BMI composer Alexandre Desplat, the WSA's most celebrated composer with five wins for Composer of the Year, was this year's special guest. Congratulations to all on jobs so well done!
