Finlandia Alumni Board to host Giving Day for student textbooks on June 14

May 26, 2022

The Finlandia Alumni Boardwill host its fourth annual Giving Dayon June 14 this year. Dedicated to helping students pay for textbooks, the Alumni Board's annual fundraiser supports FinnU students through the way of textbook awards. Giving Day is a day to celebrate all things Finlandia and show the world the opportunities it affords its alumni, family and friends.

"FinnU celebrates learning, a character trait inherited from our Finnish roots where literacy rates are consistently 99%. Finlandia Alumni Board started Giving Day to help students achieve the dream of a higher education by alleviating some of the worry about funding for textbooks," FAB president Monica Hill ('76) said.

Characterized by selfless devotion, endless generosity and support for FinnU students, Giving Day will feature conversations with past textbook award winners, Alumni Board members, social media announcements and information on textbook costs.

"Calling the students to congratulate them is a highlight of our year!" added Hill. "In our conversations, we hear many emotions, personal stories, and some share their dreams of a career or professional goals, all helped by the Textbook Awards. This is humbling, that we can help someone fulfill a dream."

Donations can be accepted through the Finlandia websiteand Facebook page. Donors can also make a check payable to Finlandia University, labeled for Giving Day and mailed to the following address:
