Premier Bushy Maape addresses the provincial closing event on 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse, 10 Dec

Premier of the North West Kaobitsa Bushy Maape will on Friday, 10 December 2021, address the provincial closing event on 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse at Tlokweng village in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality.

The village has been flagged by the South African Police Service as a hot spot in relation to Gender-based violence as well as cases on women and child abuse.

As part of the day's programme, Premier Maape will engage with different organisations and structures fighting the scourge of Gender-based violence. This includes victims and survivors as well as officials of Thuthusela Centres from across the province.

Under the theme "The Year of Charlotte Mannya Maxeke: 16 Days of Activism - Moving from Awareness to Accountability", the primary objective of the campaign is to promote social mobilisation and coalitions against Gender-based violence. Moreover, to prioritise intervention measures aimed at creating socio-economic opportunities for women.
