Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred Friday, August 12th, 2022 at approximately 10:56 p.m., on US95 at milepost 301, just north of Lapwai, Idaho.

A Buick Avenue, driven by a 65 year-old male from Twisp,Washington, was traveling northbound on US95 when the vehicle crossed over the centerline and into the southbound lane. A 2005 Kia Sorento, driven by a 41 year-old female from Warrenton, Oregon, was traveling southbound on US95 when it was struck by the Buick. Both vehicles went off the roadway and down a steep embankment. The 49 year-old male passenger in the Kia Sorento, from Lapwai, Idaho, was ejected. 

It is unknown, at this time, if the driver of the Buick was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Kia was wearing a seatbelt and the passenger of the Kia was not wearing a seatbelt. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The passenger of the Kia succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. 

The roadway was blocked for approximately 3-hours. The incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
