Carper Applauds Confirmation of Jeffrey Prieto as Top Lawyer at EPA

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), today led a bipartisan majority in the Senate to confirm Jeffrey Prieto as General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by a vote of 54-44. Prior to the vote, Carper spoke on the Senate floor in support of Prieto's nomination.

"Having come to know Mr. Prieto following his nomination by President Biden, I believe that he will be an outstanding EPA General Counsel," said Carper. "He has the intellect, the temperament, and experience to serve in this important roleā€¦he is the right choice now."

Earlier this year, Prieto came before the EPW Committee to field questions from Senators. The Committee later voted to favorably report his nomination by a bipartisan vote of 12-8.
