Hall County collaborates with LCCA on hands-on learning, workforce development initiative

Hall County Government is partnering with Hall County Schools on a unique program for students at Lanier College & Career Academy (LCCA), providing students with a hands-on learning experience and furthering the action items within Hall County's Strategic Plan.

"Our hope is that this partnership will foster interest in potential job opportunities for these students with Hall County following graduation, as well as equip them with better understanding of government operations. We're grateful to LCCA for this opportunity to connect with the younger residents of Hall County and to provide them with insight into the services Hall County provides," said Board of Commissioners Chairman Richard Higgins.

LCCA students will visit various Hall County sites throughout the 7-week program to learn more about the specific departments of Hall County, including the Hall County Courthouse, Sheriff's Office, Animal Control, Fire Services, 911 Call Center, Correctional Institution, and Cherokee Bluffs Park.

"LCCA is dedicated to teaching students skills that align with in-demand employment opportunities in the local economy. These visits are giving students the chance to see what kind of jobs they might be interested in and the variety of opportunities available to them just within Hall County government," said Brian Kovach, one of the participating LCCA teachers.

Hall County's Strategic Plan includes five priority areas, including Economic and Workforce Development. More information about Hall County's Strategic Plan can be found here.
