TFD Responds to Residential Fire

October 29, 2021

On Thursday, Oct. 28, at 4:08 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a report of a residential fire in the 2000 block of Chowkeebin Nene. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the attic. Crews performed an interior attack, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

The bulk of the fire was contained to the attic, and there were no reported injuries. The fire resulted in an estimated $20,000 in damages, and the cause was electrical in nature.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.

Smoke alarms can provide the early warning necessary to escape a deadly fire. TFD will provide two residential smoke alarms at no cost to homeowners who are either physically or financially unable to purchase or install their own smoke alarms. Requests can be made online through the Smoke Alarm Request Form at Talgov.com/Fire or by calling 850-891-6600.
