The City of Providence to Repair Fox Point Hurricane Barrier Road Covers

The City of Providence will be repairing road covers critical for the operation of the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier vehicle gates. These covers house brace footings located in concrete chambers beneath the street. During a storm event, the brace footings hold the gates in a closed position.

The project will address road covers on Allens Avenue, Bridge Street, and South Main Street. Repairs include removing and replacing the existing covers, as well as work on the cover frames, concrete structures, and surrounding pavement. This work will involve concrete/masonry repairs, asphalt patching and paving, and pavement markings.

This project is essential to ensure the continued functionality and storm readiness of the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier
