MCC Builds Stronger Agency Through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

WASHINGTON (May 19, 2022) - The U.S. government's Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) launched its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan (2022-2026) today at the 2022 Women in Global Development Leadership Forum, promoting an integrated approach to advancing DEIA.

"This plan will ensure we cultivate, nurture, and sustain a global and inclusive culture where our differences are leveraged to produce innovative solutions that meet the needs of our employees, global partners, and the international development community," said MCC's Chief Diversity Officer, Tracey France. "MCC should reflect the diversity of America."

France was part of a panel of MCC senior leaders at the Forum who discussed how the agency integrates DEIA into its overall business model through its new DEIA strategy and its upcoming Inclusion and Gender Strategy.

MCC's new strategy not only impacts its staff, but also its global operations. By integrating DEIA into the agency's mission, human capital strategy, corporate goals, and embedding it into its workstreams, France said MCC will "make DEIA part of our DNA."

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Women Innovators and Leaders (WILD) Network - the organization hosting the Women in Global Development Leadership Forum - believes MCC's new strategy may motivate similar plans across the development community.

"MCC's DEIA strategy has the potential to serve as a model for others with a commitment to delivering results with and for all people," said Fiona Macaulay. "Strong and inclusive leaders come in all ages, genders, abilities, nationalities, and socio-economic levels. Now is the time to support diverse leaders with the resources, positions, and power to lead."

The WILD Network elevates diverse leaders around the world who are tackling the world's toughest challenges.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. government development agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants that pair investments in infrastructure with policy and institutional reforms to countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, fighting corruption and respecting democratic rights.
