Capito, Manchin Announce $12.2 Million in COVID-19 Relief for 32 West Virginia Healthcare Providers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $12,255,617 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support 32 West Virginia healthcare providers. This funding from the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) was included in the CARES Act and other bipartisan COVID-19 relief packages.

"Our health care providers in West Virginia have continuously been on the frontlines as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. That's one of the reasons I have prioritized making sure our medical professionals have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently. In West Virginia, especially our more rural communities, it's common for people to seek health services through smaller hospitals or health centers. It's encouraging to see this funding specifically designated for smaller health service providers, which will help create a more direct impact in our communities. I will continue to fight for the support our brave health care workforce needs both during and after the pandemic," Senator Capito said.

I fought to ensure West Virginia healthcare providers have the support they need and advocated for rural healthcare providers to get their fair share of funding through the Provider Relief Fund to help care for those in need during this crisis," Senator Manchin said.
