Dear Boychoir Community,
As an organization that supports young men and their families by creating community around artistic programming and education, I feel as if it's important to take a moment to recognize the pain and anger and sadness that is gripping our country now.
The Boychoir is committed to being a place where boys feel welcome and can fully be themselves. None of that is dependent upon race or ethnicity, but that's not to say that we ignore the ways racism affects us all.
To our Black families, we see you and we support you. You will always find a community of care in the Boychoir. To the entire Boychoir family, you have our word that we are constantly working towards equity. We realize that diversity and inclusion bring vibrancy and relevance to our artistry. Also, put plainly, it's just the right thing to do.
As a Black man, I feel utter gratitude to be in this position in this organization. I am thankful for the history of the Boychoir as an organization committed to community and cultural awareness. I am humbled to know that my work as an artist, educator, and leader can and does make a difference in the world. Together, in beloved community, we can bring much needed tides of change just by showing up, loving each other, sharing perspectives, and learning.
Hmm…sounds a lot like the magic that occurs in Boychoir rehearsals, on Boychoir tours, and at Boychoir concerts! Thank you for your part in creating that magic and may we continue to be a beacon for artistry, personal growth, community, and cultural awareness.
Below, you'll find details about two opportunities for members of our community to show up and learn together this summer. We hope you'll take advantage of these opportunities!
Over the summer, Artistic Director Jason Alexander Holmes will host conversations with friends and colleagues about several different topics. This Thursday, June 4th, Jason will join tenors Brian Giebler, Bernard Holcomb, and Robert Lomax, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Director of Artistic Planning and Administration Nate Bachhuber, discussing A Performer's Life. You can watch live at https://www.youtube.com/cincyboychoir beginning at 6pm ET.

Starting June 15th, boys who were enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester will be able to take up to 3 FREE private lessons in voice, theory, composition, ear training, and sight singing with Mr. Holmes, Ms. Peters, and Cincinnati Boychoir board member Dr. Tom Merrill. Lessons will take place via Zoom and each lesson will last 30 minutes. If you're currently enrolled and interested, please fill out this form and Mr. Holmes will be in touch to schedule your lesson(s)!
Thank you all and have a great week!
