Adoption of the 2022 Municipal Budget

DIEPPE, NB - Dieppe City Council adopted its $77-million operating budget for 2022 at its public meeting on November 22. Of that amount, $63.1 million will go to the general operating budget and $13.9 million to the water and sewer budget.

Also adopted at the meeting were the capital budgets: $23.9 million for the general capital budget and $5.4 million for the water and sewer capital budget.

"Despite the pandemic, which has made life somewhat difficult over the past year, Dieppe continues to experience strong growth and remains the ideal location for businesses and families looking for a stable, safe and dynamic environment," said Mayor Yvon Lapierre.

With a significant tax base increase of 13.3% in 2022, mainly due to the positive reassessment of properties and strong construction growth, City Council agreed to ease the tax burden on Dieppe homeowners and reduce the tax rate by 9¢. That rate now stands at $1.5395 per $100 of assessed value. In addition, the annual water and sewer bill will be kept at $948.
