Public Notice: Amendment reallocating community development block grants

The City of Galveston proposes to amend its 2017 through 2020 Consolidated Action Plans by reallocating Community Development Block Grant unexpended program funds in the total amount of $236,382.14. In accordance with the Consolidated Planning federal regulations, the City is notifying the public regarding the reprogramming of CDBG funds to allow for citizen comments on the proposed amendment.

The City proposes to reallocate $236,382.14 for the Development Services Department Infrastructure Improvements to install new streetlights in the Cornerstone Place low-moderate income area of 31st to 34th Streets from Church to Ball Avenues and Ball Avenue from 30th to 34th Streets in the streets' rights-of-way. The CDBG funds are from the unexpended balances of the following program years: 2017 $11,000, 2018 $19,343.30, 2019 $23,936.84, and 2020 $182,102.00. Reallocating these remaining funds will assist the City in meeting the HUD "timeliness" federal spending standards and meet the City's Consolidated Planning goals and priority needs.
