GREEN - Roseburg area reporters are invited to a media availability on Thursday, October 28 at 8:15 a.m. at the Green Elementary School, 4498 Carnes Road (meet across the street in the vacant County Park parking lot).

Law enforcement, ODOT safety, Douglas County and Green school officials will be available to discuss safe and visible walking and biking to school and upcoming Halloween festivities.

This is timely with Halloween this Sunday and the coming time change November 7. This location is also the site of a new $4.2 million Safe Routes to School safety improvement project. This project constructed new sidewalk for school children and other pedestrians to walk on instead of the roadway shoulder, as well as bike lanes and a rapid flashing beacon crosswalk signal to help users safely cross the street.

Important Safety Messages:

  • Enhanced community safety for upcoming Halloween festivities
  • Highlight safe driving with the end of daylight savings time
  • Stress awareness of impaired driving now through Holiday Season
  • Highlight Safe Routes to School
