Austin Water crews are responding to a wastewater overflow at 7011 W Parmer Lane in Austin. Construction crews working in the adjacent area to a wastewater force-main struck and ruptured the line during construction activities.
The overflow was discovered at 12:11pm with repair and recovery crews on-site shortly after to assess and begin the clean up. Approximately 50,000 gallons of wastewater has been released but is being contained inside the excavated construction trench. The overflow has not reached any waterways.
This overflow has not affected Austin's drinking water supply. Officials with the Texas Commission Environmental Quality have been notified of the situation.
The clean-up is on-going and the recovery of wastewater is currently in progress.
