HEADLINE NEWS

We need your help to restock Scottsdale's Vista del Camino Food Bank. Participate in the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive by placing nonperishable food near your mailbox Saturday, May 14. Your letter carrier will pick up and deliver items to food banks.

If you're on the county's Active Early Voting List, you may soon see a "90-day notice" in your mailbox. This is a legally required notice that provides information about the August 2022 election and provides voters on the Active Early Voting List an opportunity to have their early ballot sent to an alternate address or opt out of receiving an early ballot in the mail.

The notice also allows voters who are not registered with a political party an opportunity to let the county know which ballot they want (either a party ballot or a local, Scottsdale-only ballot). The party ballot includes candidate races for governor, state legislature, etc. with candidates from that political party. It also will include candidates for Scottsdale City Council. The local-only ballot will only include the Scottsdale City Council races.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE: For the August election only, independent voters on the Active Early Voting List are not automatically sent an early ballot in the mail. They must choose a ballot type by either returning the 90-day notice to the county or online at BeBallotReady.Vote. They can also vote in person at any early voting or Election Day voting location. For the November 2022 Election, independent voters on the Active Early Voting List will automatically receive an early ballot in the mail unless they decline this option.

FYI

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a high ozone pollution advisory for today and tomorrow. Those with respiratory sensitivities are advised to take precautions during outdoor activities, especially noon-6 p.m. Please help reduce ozone by doing one or more of the following:

  • Use gas or electric instead of burning wood

  • Limit the lighting of fireworks

  • Ride transit, carpool or telework

  • Eliminate all unnecessary driving and/or combine trips

  • Avoid dirt roads

  • Avoid the use of leaf blowers

  • If burning wood for heat or food preparation, use dry wood (burning wet wood releases more particulate matter)

Purchase your summer family swim pass. Passes are valid from Memorial Day through Labor Day for daily entry into Eldorado, Cactus and McDowell Mountain Ranch aquatic facilities for lap swim, fitness centers and waterparks. McDowell Mountain Ranch family passes are valid at all four aquatic centers. Eldorado, Cactus and Chaparral family passes are not valid at McDowell Mountain Ranch due to the difference in waterpark fees. Purchase your pass online.
