The Andalusian Magnon plants covered the electrical energy needs of more than 715,000 people in 2021

In 2021, the Andalusian plants of Magnon Green Energy generated enough sustainable energy to cover the electricity needs of more than 715,000 people. Last year, the facilities located in the provinces of Huelva, Córdoba and Jaén produced more than 876,000 MWh of renewable energy obtained from biomass.

Magnon, through biomass generation, contributes to the stability of the Spanish electricity system, as well as its decarbonisation. All this, through a renewable energy capable of valuing remains from agroforestry activity.

This technology also prevents poor management of these remains, which often leads to their uncontrolled burning or their abandonment in natural spaces, thus providing a solution to this environmental problem in the Andalusian fields.

On the other hand, the Magnon plants in Andalusia represent an important economic engine for the autonomous community, providing sustainable and quality employment. According to data from the Association of Renewable Energy Companies (APPA), each megawatt installed for biomass sustains 25 direct, indirect and induced jobs, which raises the social impact of the activity of the plants to 4,500 jobs, mostly inhabitants of the towns adjacent to the plants.

In Huelva, Magnon has the most important and advanced biomass generation energy complex in Spain, in which 3 plants with a total capacity of 137 MW are located. Among them is Huelva 50MW, the most important in Spain and one of the main plants in Europe in this technology. In 2020, it started up its youngest plant on the premises, Huelva 46MW.

On the other hand, its Lucena plant is located in the province of Córdoba, with a total capacity of 27 MW. This consumes orujillo as fuel, very abundant in the surroundings of the facilities, and olive tree pruning.

The last of the Andalusian provinces in which Magnon operates is Jaén. At its La Loma plant, located in Villanueva del Arzobispo, it has an installed capacity of 16 MW and, like Lucena, consumes mainly pomace and olive pruning.
