The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit handed down a precedential decision following an appeal dismissal ending the five-year-long battle in which Acceleration Bay accused video-game publisher, Take-Two Interactive, of patent infringement. World Intellectual Property Review interviewed Finnegan partner Anthony Del Monaco to reflect on the decision. Anthony explained that if the ruling went in favor of Acceleration Bay, it could have caused game developers to refigure their online features. He further stated: "Take-Two could try to remove or design around the alleged infringing functionality to avoid having to pay additional royalty payments moving forward for ongoing infringement."
