Festival dell'Economia di Trento. Theme of the XVII Edition: 'The Pandemic aftermath, amidst order and distruption'

Trentino Marketing and the 24 ORE Group, organizers of the seventeenth edition of the Festival dell'Economia di Trento taking place from 2 to 5 June 2022, promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento with the contribution of the Municipality and University of Trento, announce the core theme of the event: "The Pandemic aftermath, AMIDST ORDER AND DISRUPTION".
The Autonomous Province of Trento, through Trentino Marketing and the 24 ORE Group, will promote the organization of the Festival during the three-year period 2022-2024, guaranteeing the longstanding, positive path taken by the squirrel over sixteen years, making it one of the flagship events in Italy and beyond. Consistency and continuity will complement all the new features and improvements introduced by the new partner. The University of Trento will add its own input with a presence in the Scientific Panel, tasked with setting the guidelines of the Festival's scientific programme. The University of Trento will also provide a functional-logistical contribution to the Festival, by offering space at the University for the organization of events, and will contribute to the initiatives targeted to the student community. The Municipality of Trento will share proposals and content of the Festival, in keeping with the cultural and touristic proposition of the City. The Municipality will also assist in the organizational support of the event, by providing urban and institutional spaces.
Following the announcement of the new organizational structure of the Festival, entrusted for the next three years by the Province of Trento to the 24 ORE Group in association with Trentino Marketing, work is underway to build the agenda of the traditional event, which makes the Trentino capital the venue of reference where national and international top personalities from the world of the economy, institutions, business, academia, philosophy and journalism and all stakeholders converge and debate, from this edition, with greater involvement of the citizenry, the local area and target families and young people. To this end, the organizers have defined the composition of the Scientific Panel and have set up an Advisory Board, which have contributed to choosing the theme of the 17° edition of the Festival.
The Scientific Panel of the 2022 edition of the Festival dell'Economia, chaired by Fabio Tamburini, Editor-in-Chief of Il Sole 24 Ore, is formed by Gabriella Berloffa, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Trento, Luigi Bonatti, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trento, and economics historian Adriana Castagnoli, former Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.
The Advisory Board of the Festival dell'Economia di Trento, tasked with supporting the organizers and the Scientific Panel in identifying real economy topics, is composed of Lucia Annunziata (journalist), Emma Marcegaglia (President B20), Paolo Magri (Executive Vice President and Director ISPI), Monica Mondardini (Managing Director CIR), Giulio Sapelli (Board Member Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei), and Giulio Tremonti (President Aspen Institute Italia).
The core theme of the 17° Festival dell'Economia di Trento is "The Pandemic aftermath, AMIDST ORDER AND DISRUPTION". The choice stems from the discussion on the dire social, economic and political effects that the pandemic has produced, is producing and will produce. The magnitude of the economic crisis brought by the health emergency has called for emergency economic policies worldwide, from the US to China and Europe. Fiscal policy is back on the agenda of every government and government debts are rising everywhere. The real economy has ushered in sweeping changes where communities will once again play a key role. The West as a whole is struggling with the demise of ideologies and lack of leadership, not only in political terms. Against this backdrop, how will the balance in the Western world change? Will the push for change be taken in by the system, or will new economic and social balances materialize, causing tension and unending destabilization? The crossroads is between Order, meaning the redrafting of new social pacts, and Disruption, meaning the failure to manage transition.
This is the core theme of the rich programme of meetings, events, talks and keynotes that will be graced by renowned national and international opinion leaders and prominent personalities including scientists and researchers, representatives of civil society and institutions, economists, entrepreneurs, managers and personalities from the leading academic institutions in Italy and beyond during the four days of June, when Trento and its Festival will take the centre stage of economic and social debate at the international level.
