Be Internet Awesome at Colli Aniene

In Rome, Project Fully Enjoy the Internet is increasingly interconnected with the network of senior citizen centres.

The senior citizen centres are local structures that welcome elders for social, cultural and recreative activities. All local residents may participate, as long as they are older than 55 or older than 40 but with a 60% certified disability. In order to promote the greatest degree of socialisation, spouses and partners are also invited to join.

Today, we bring you to Rome's IV Municipio, which covers an area as large as Frosinone (48.94 km2) and is as populous a Reggio Emilia with its 177,000 residents. There are 11 senior citizen centres in the district that are attended by nearly 5000 over-55s.

The two organised training sessions will be held at the "Centro Anziani Colli Aniene." The first will be dedicated to Digital Tools for Socialisation (9-10). The second (10-11) will address the issue of Fraud and Fake News.

Both sessions will be held by Andrea Santoro, who defines himself as a digital anthropologist. "My objective," he writes on LinkedIn, "is to educate users to a more critical and aware use of social media by exploring social norms, the laws governing social environments, and the potential and dangers of the Internet."

Fully Enjoy the Internet, the educational programme on on-line security promoted by Google, the Italian Postal Police, Altroconsumo and Anteas, provides free educational activities to help elders acquire digital citizenship skills.
