Mayor Muriel Bowser and DPW Host Motor Vehicle Operator Job Fair Tomorrow

In support of Mayor Bowser's Second Chance program, the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will host a community job fair Wednesday, June 8, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the North Michigan Park Recreation Center located at 1333 Emerson Street, NE, Washington, DC 20017.

"As a second chance employer we want to provide an opportunity for the community, including our returning citizens, to get to know DPW and learn about our vacant positions," said DPW Interim Director Mike Carter. "DC is a great place to live and District Government agencies like DPW are a great place to work."

DPW has positions available across the agency with several positions available for tow truck operators. During the job fair, job seekers can talk to DPW human resource representatives, and apply for vacant tow truck positions. Qualified applicants may be invited for an interview, additional screening, or testing on June 9.

All individuals who plan to attend the job fair should bring their government-issued identification. Applicants interested in motor vehicle operator (tow truck driver) positions should also bring their resume highlighting their tow truck driving experience, valid Commercial Drivers License (A and B), and their DOT Medical Certification.

Applicants have the option of claiming additional preference if they are:

  • A District resident (applicants claiming District residency preference at the time of application should be prepared to provide a government-issued form of identification and proof of voter registration);
  • A veteran and/or have disabilities from military service (applicants claiming veteran's preference should be prepared to provide a copy of their DD-214);
  • 18 to 21 years of age and currently (or was) a Child and Family Services (CFSA) foster care recipient within the last five years. Applicants claiming a foster care preference will need a letter or other documentation from CFSA or the Family Court of D.C. Superior Court showing that they are currently in foster care or showing the date they left court supervision.

The job fair event is free and open to the public.
