Steampunking Felixstowe

This October, the seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk will be gearing itself up ready to host a new major event. The Felixstowe Steampunk Halloween Festival will be held at Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October 2018.

Imagine a world where the Victorians were far more technologically advanced than they were in reality… from steam driven airships to mechanical time machines. The Victorians loved their seaside holidays too… so Felixstowe is the perfect place for a Steampunk extravaganza!

This new family-friendly festival is packed with Steampunk curiosities and eccentricities with a spooky Halloween twist or two. Great music and entertainment, Steampunk performers, magic shows, Meccano and wacky Steampunk games, including tea dueling and 'High Noon' shoot-outs with Nerf guns.

There will also be a Steampunk Marketplace with traders from across the UK. Visitors are encouraged to attend in their Steampunk finery… its up to you as anything goes as long as it's a little steampunked!

For braver souls, there is also a special evening event at Landguard Fort on Saturday 27 October - the 'Night of the Macabre' featuring a weird and wonderful cabaret show of live Steampunk acts, alongside scarers, special effects and plenty of shocks and surprises.

The Festival will be officially launched at this weekend's (27 to 29 July) Felixstowe Carnival, where the Burlesque Bombshells group from Essex, together with costumed Steampunk characters from the Fort and Museum will be part of the procession through the town.

Tickets for the Festival go on sale next Wednesday 1 August.

Stephen Rampley, Landguard Marketing and Events Co-ordinator, said 'We are very excited to bring this big new event to Felixstowe and Landguard. It promises to be a real spectacle and something the town has never seen before. So, start digging out those top hats, flying goggles and corsets for a weekend to remember'.
