Boozman Statement on Mayorkas Impeachment Trial

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement on the Senate's dismissal of the impeachment trial of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

"The national emergency at our southern border is a direct result of the Biden administration's policies, which Sec. Mayorkas has implemented and defended while avoiding accountability. By refusing to hold a full impeachment trial, Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats have rejected history and tradition, inviting a precedent to ignore future impeachment charges against federal officials despite the Senate's constitutional duty to consider them. I'm disappointed with this outcome that undermines the Constitution and helps facilitate the president's open-border agenda."
