Midsummer racing: Abarth races on the mid-August weekend, both in rallies and on the track

  • Rally Liepāja 2020: three teams in the Abarth 124 rally at the starting line for round 2 of the ERC and the Abarth Rally Cup 2020, held in Latvia from August 14 to 16
  • The same weekend will see the return to the track at the Nürburgring with the FIA ADAC F4 Championship powered by Abarth

In a midsummer of races, two international events are scheduled from August 14 to 16 featuring Abarth in rallies and on the track.

In Latvia, round 2 of the ERC - European Rally Championship, valid for the Abarth Rally Cup 2020, with three teams driving the Abarth 124 rally: the Poles Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek (Team Rallytechnology), who came in second in this race last year; the Czech crew consisting of Martin Rada and Jaroslav JUGAS (Team Agrotec Abarth), who ran the Barum Czech Rally Zlín last year; and finally, the Italian winners of round 1 of the Abarth Rally Cup 2020, Andrea Mabellini and Nicola Arena (Napoca Rally Team).

The Rally Liepāja is held on a course characterized by very fast special stages on a gravel but compacted track, with fast wide curves that extol the 124 rally's qualities of balance and performance.

The race starts from the town of the same name on the shores of the Baltic at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 15 and ends on Sunday the 16th at 6:30 pm. Two stages are scheduled with 10 special stages, a total of 180 km of time trials on an overall course of 607 km.

At the same time, in Germany, the second event of the FIA ADAC F4 Championship powered by Abarth will take place on the Nürburgring circuit.

The Abarth T-Jet-powered single-seaters are taken on by young drivers from karting in a series with a distinctly international focus. In the first heat, held on August 1 and 2 at Lausitzring, the young Briton Jonny Edgar came in first in two of the three races, while the third was won by the Finn Elias Seppänen.

The drivers compete in the qualifying stages at the iconic German circuit on Friday, August 14. Race 1 will be on Saturday at 12:00 pm, with the other two races on Sunday at 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Live streaming on the ADAC website,
