SALGA hosts youth month hackathon in Gauteng, 26-27 June

SALGA in Gauteng hosts a youth month hackathon aimed at creating digital solutions for youth challenge

The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in the Gauteng Province in partnership with the Empire Partnership Foundation will host a youth month hackathon on the 26th -27th June 2021 for youth based in the province.

According to the 2020 Statistics South Africa mid-term population survey, the youth in South Africa constitutes more than a third of the population and continues to be the population group mostly affected by the South African unemployment crisis, now further exacerbated by the outbreak of the Covid-19 outbreak.

In response to this, SALGA in the Gauteng province has conceptualised this hackathon as an empowerment programme aimed at positioning the youth as the drivers of solutions for an inclusive local government.

Through the hackathon, SALGA further seeks to highlight the talent of youth as they present innovative youth responsive solutions to improve their lives and the lives of many others.
