CAS Anne yesterday officially opened the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project scientific Conference at Naivasha.
Climate change has adversely affected the farmer productivity through low production per acre,loss of animals ,migration of fish due to high water temperatures among others.

This is due to unpredictable,low rainfall as well as acidity of water bodies .
This project comes at the right time where as a country we are striving to move from rain-fed agriculture by the smallholder farmers .
Kenya's vision 2030 sets the agenda for inclusive growth and people driven sustainable development especially under the economic pillar which prioritizes agriculture.

Kenya requires transformation of its agricultural systems that are resilient and minimizes the greenhouse gasses emissions.
Climate Smart agriculture integrates the triple dimension of development;economic,social and environmental by jointly addressing the food security and climate challenges .

The Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture project ,through component 2 and 3 has increased the scholarship from initially 17PhDs and 50 MSCs to over 172 scholarships.

In her remarks ,She emphasized the need for the researchers to disseminate their findings to the farmers ,pastoralists and all other stakeholders in the agriculture sector ,as this knowledge is what will increase the farmers yields ,reduce losses and also cushion them against the adverse effects of climate change .

She finalized by stating the government's ,through the ministry of Agriculture Livestock,Fisheries and Cooperatives,commitment to the food security Pilar of the Big Four agenda .
