Philippe de Guyenro joins Eversheds Sutherland as a lateral Partner hire in the tax department, accompanied by his two Associates, Ferielle Habili and Marine Cousin. Their arrival reinforces the transactional team's (Corporate, Banking, Projects, Restructuring) capability within the tax law aspects of the practice.

Philippe has a strong international orientation and worked for more than sixteen years at PwC, including almost two years in New York. Appointed Partner in 2001, he joined DLA Piper in 2007 as head of its Paris-based tax practice. In 2012, he became a Partner at Reinhart Marville Torre.

Philippe specialises in corporate tax law, transactions and reorganisations. He mainly advises private clients, large groups and mid-sized French and international companies on their national and cross-border tax structuring. He also assists them in all tax aspects of their external growth operations and in their internal reorganisation. More recently, Philippe has been involved in carve-outs for industrial groups with a view to separating their activities, and in the implementation of solutions for merging structures following strategic acquisitions.

Philippe has developed a strong reputation in real estate taxation and assists companies in their relations with the tax authorities, including during the litigation phase.

"I am delighted to be joining Eversheds Sutherland, an internationally renowned firm. I look forward to building a strong, cross-functional tax practice and working effectively with the Paris team and the firm's international contacts. Working as a team is a guarantee of quality in providing our clients with solutions to the complex issues they face and the synergy established with the different practices is promising both in terms of combining our skills and strengthening the Paris office," says Philippe de Guyenro.

"Philippe's arrival is in line with the significant future growth of the Paris office and the strategy of developing a strong tax task force. In addition to his complementary role with the transactional team, Philippe meets the firm's ambition to develop a high value-added practice whose skills will enable it to identify new business opportunities, particularly in M&A, Corporate and Private Equity. His extensive experience and maturity will be necessary assets for the management of a tax practice of excellence" adds Eric Knai, Head of M&A (International).

Philippe is joined by Ferielle Habili, an experienced Senior Counsel, and Marine Cousin, an Associate who has been working with him since she qualified as a lawyer.

A member of the Paris Bar since 2007, Ferielle began her career in 2007 at Price Waterhouse Coopers Avocats in Paris as an Associate in the consumer industrial products department and became Manager in 2012. She then joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Herbert Smith Freehills as an Associate in the tax department in 2013 and 2017. In October 2018 she joined U.G.G.C avocats as a Senior Lawyer in the tax department where she advises clients on M&A transactions (group advisory and managers), real estate taxation and tax litigation. She will also be head the tax department of the Africa office.

Ferielle assists private French companies and multinationals (mainly in the industry and infrastructure sectors) with their acquisitions, mergers and restructurings, both domestically and internationally. She is known for her technical competence and responsiveness in complex situations, often including an international element. Her strengths complement the dynamic Corporate teams at Eversheds Sutherland and the firm's extensive international network.

A member of the Paris Bar since January 2021, Marine's focus is on tax structuring of investments, tax litigation and wealth tax issues. She also assists international groups in their internal restructuring.

Marine began her career at Reinhart Marville Torre in the tax department headed by Philippe. Her international experience, which she owes to her university studies in London and her internship in Corporate M&A/Private Equity at LPA in Singapore, will help reinforce the firm's already impressive capability to meet the increasingly global challenges of its clients.
